Wayne and Get'n Lena became the 2009 Open NRHA Australian Reining Champions.
Wayne and "Billy" had a fantastic run but Billy did take one wrong stride on his left circles, a minor flaw that did incur an automatic one point penalty from both Judges. The run was that far ahead however that they still won, besting the scores of all the others including our Australian WEG team representives.
Way to go Wayne and Get'n Lena!!!
At the start of 2008 Wayne spent 2 months training in the USA with four times NRHA Open Futurity Champion Shawn Flarida that he arranged with Shawn during the Equine Influenza outbreak in Australia.
Based in Ohio, Shawn is currently dominating reining in the USA having won the NRHA Open Futurity 5 times in the past 6 years and having earnings in excess of $4 million US.
Wayne and Get'n Lena top scored the
2008 QRHA State championships to win the open derby!
The following is a excerpt from the QRHA website:
Perhaps one of the most memorable runs of the 2008 QRHA State Show was in the hotly contested Open Derby. Second last out was Wayne Williams on his stallion Get N Lena with the task of bettering Warren Backhouse’s leading score of 145 ½ on A Lil Pep. It was going to take one hell of a run to win, and that’s exactly what Wayne delivered - scoring a 146 to become the Open Derby champion in front of an ecstatic crowd.
